NSL WEEK 337- Adobe Illustrator “Stroke on a Picture”

I like when I come across these weird lil tricks. How do you apply a Stroke to a picture in Adobe Illustrator? Most people I asked, told me it wasn’t possible or to create a separate shape behind it.

Check out the video above to learn how it’s done.

****

Here I have my image selected. In the tools panel it shows that there is no stroke applied. Clicking on a color swatch will not add a color as a stroke.

****

You need to add a stroke in the Appearance Panel.

****

Next you have to target the Stroke and apply a Convert to Rectangle Effect directly to your targeted stroke.

****

These are the settings I used. Your settings will vary depending on the size of the image.

****

After applying the effect, you can make additional edits to your stroke and apply multiple strokes if needed.
