NSL WEEK 314- Adobe Illustrator “3D Ribbon and 3D Tennis Ball”

I’m having fun trying out different techniques with 3D in Adobe Illustrator.

Check out the video above to see me create a 3D Ribbon effect and a 3D Tennis Ball. Big thanks to Carlos Garro for showing me the way!

This is what we’re making in the video.

Here is some simple geometry for my ribbons to wrap around. Just make sure to use the “Invisible Geometry” option.

If you setup the ribbons at an angle, it will look more like a spiral.

Then you can use the 3D Revolve Options to reposition your artwork instead of redrawing.

This basic shape is what I used to make my sphere look like a tennis ball.

Adjust the size of the symbol to get the right look.
