NSL WEEK 247- Adobe Illustrator “Embedded Image Trace AG”

This time we’re working with an embedded image and Image Trace in Adobe Illustrator

Along with the help of Astute Graphics.

Adobe Illustrator

This is the original image. We’re going to make some big changes!

Adobe Illustrator Rasterino Astute Graphics

Here I’m cropping the image using Rasterino by Astute Graphics. This is a true crop which is different from a mask.

Adobe Illustrator Phantasm Astute Graphics

Next I’m using Phantasm by Astute Graphics to bring back some info with a Levels adjustment.

Adobe Illustrator Image Trace

This is the default result for Image Trace.

Adobe Illustrator

Layer 1 has the Threshold adjusted to favor the sleeve of the subject and the monitor  on the left.

Adobe Illustrator

Layer 2 has the Threshold adjusted to favor the face of the subject.

Astute Graphics VectorScribe

HERE’S THE FUN PART! Just use your layers as you would in Photoshop. Here I’m erasing portions of the top layer to expose the layer below.

Adobe Illustrator

This is what you get when you combine the 2 layers. You can continue to run Image Trace passes to bring back detail from additional areas.
