NSL WEEK 215- Adobe Illustrator “Gradient Fill on Live Text”

You don’t have to Outline your text to apply a gradient fill!

All you have to do is, dig around the Appearance Panel a lil bit =)

Adobe Illustrator
Appearance for Live Text

Locate your appearance panel and double click on “Character” to access the appearance of your live text.

In my workflow, I like to set the stroke and fill to “None” then back out by double clicking on “Type: No Appearance” to get back to the top level of your appearance.

Add New Fill

Click on the “Add New Fill” button so that you can apply a gradient fill above the characters/live text

Now you’re free to edit the gradient or text without having to “outline” the text.
