N.S.L: WEEK 161 – Adobe Illustrator CC 2014: “Recolor Artwork: Pantone Spot Colors”

The learning don’t stop! This isn’t even a new feature! I ran into this feature while talking to my previous boss from the t-shirt shop.

He was asking for a tool that would look at your existing process color artwork and then assign colors from the Pantone Solid Coated color book. I didn’t know how to do it at the time. I went back and told my current boss about it, he showed me it already exists in Adobe Illustrator, and that it’s been there for a long time.

Recolor Artwork in the Control Panel

The quickest way to launch this feature is in the Control Panel.

Adobe Illustrator- Recolor Artwork with Pantone Spot Colors
The feature you’re looking for is Recolor Artwork in the Edit menu.

If you cant find it in the Control Panel, you can always find it here in the Edit Menu.

Limits Color Group to Swatch Library Colors

You just have to know what buttons to push. This option is easy to overlook but there’s a lot of power in there.

There’s a lot of power in this tool!!! I gotta jump back in it some more. I did a post on this a long time ago but I still have a lot to learn. I guess it don’t stope right?!?!

Towards the end of the video (Above) you’ll see me us a plugin called InkQuest by Astute Graphics. Here’s some more info on it:
