N.S.L: WEEK 160 – Adobe Photoshop CC 2014: “Smart Guides”

This week I’ll be showing you my first look at using Smart Guides in Adobe Photoshop CC 2014

Check out the video above. I thought the guides didn’t work at first. Then I realized I needed to have a background on there for the guides to measure the canvas edge.

Smart Guides, new feature in Adobe Photoshop CC 2014

Once I inserted a background, you can see the guides are giving me helpful information about my layers. There are several annotations showing me the distance between the edge of my artwork and the edge of my canvas.

With this information, it can really speed things up when you’re trying to layout your artwork properly. In the image above you can see me laying out the artwork for a set of patches that will be screen printed later.
